The degree designation reflects the rich history of McGill University as home to Canada's first Faculty of Medicine, and the original distinction between Medicine & Surgery colleges.

Minimum requirements
Education

A 120 credit (4-year) or equivalent Bachelor's degree from a recognized, accredited institution, in any discipline. Or, applicants may be considered on the basis of a second, subsequent undergraduate degree (minimum 60 credits), for a degree not impacted by the Winter 2020 Pandemic.

Prerequisite Courses

Candidates are required to have completed 7 introductory basic science courses with labs: 2 introductory Biology courses with labs, 2 introductory Chemistry courses with labs, 1 introductory Organic Chemistry course with lab, and 2 introductory Physics courses with labs.
MCAT

Not required.
Language

French-language proficiency is required at a B2 (mid-intermediate) level for Montreal Campus and a C1 (advanced) level for Campus Outaouais.
GPA

No minimum GPA. However, successful applicants tend to have a GPA above 3.5 (average approximately 3.8). Applicants with a GPA below 3.4 are rarely considered competitive.
